Leah has been selected as a protege to the accomplished Tennessee based artist, Dawn Whitelaw. www.dawnwhitelaw.com The Mentoring Program is a project of the Cecilia Beaux Forum  of the Portrait Society of America developed to support the aesthetic and technical growth of female figurative artists in America.  The program fosters relationships between individual established artists and advanced emerging artists.

UGA Freshman Summer College Experience

Twenty soon to be freshmen at UGA accompanied Leah to the State Botanical Gardens for a drawing workshop as part of their Freshman Experience Program this month. Students did washes in water-soluble graphite and came away with some beautiful work.

The black and white WWI ID card photo pictured above, roughly 2″x4″, was the reference for the 20″x24″ portrait below. Research was done by the commissioner on uniform colors. Hair and eye color was known by the family and interpreted by the artist. This is the first of three portraits of grandfather, father and son in their military uniform.

Lyndon House 34th Juried Exhibition
